Rock legend doesn’t ‘give a flying f—’ if fans want his band to reunite

If you are hoping for something new from Radiohead, I regret to inform you of some bad news. (Can an eight-year gap between albums be called a reunion?)
Frontman Thom Yorke does not care about the calls for the band to reconvene, stating, “I am not aware of it and don’t really give a flying f—,” in a recent interview with Australia’s ABC News.
It’s not as if the members of Radiohead have been dormant since the release of 2016’s “A Moon Shaped Pool;” they’ve been quite busy. Yorke and bandmate Jonny Greenwood formed The Smile with jazz drummer Tom Skinner. They’ve been on a creative streak, releasing three albums in two years, including two in 2024 alone.
Bassist Colin Greenwood released a new photography book called “How to Disappear: A Photographic Portrait of Radiohead” and is touring with Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds. Guitarist Ed O’Brien and drummer Philip Selway have released their own solo projects, and Yorke himself has been busy scoring music for films such as “Suspiria” (2018) and “Confidenza” (2024).
Everybody has been keeping the creative fires lit, but it might just be about the band doing things when they want.
“No offense to anyone and err, thanks for caring,” said Yorke. “But I think we’ve earned the right to do what makes sense to us without having to explain ourselves or be answerable to anyone else’s historical idea of what we should be doing.”
With all this being said, there is a peak of light through the clouds. Greenwood said the band got together over the summer and rehearsed some old songs. Still, there are yet to be any immediate plans to record new music or tour.
